The ranking reveals that, despite notable improvements in for-sale inventory, buyers largely remained on the sidelines in the late spring and early summer, indicating that housing costs, not inventory availability, are the primary barrier to home sales. This trend is evident in the dominance of Northeastern and Midwestern metropolitan areas, reflecting a shift toward more attainable housing markets.
